Think Differently About Your Health: Why Habits Alone Aren't the Problem
Mar 30, 2026
Every major transformation begins with one decision — questioning what everyone else accepts as normal.
We live in a world full of health advice.
Eat this.
Don’t eat that.
Exercise more.
Count calories.
Try fasting.
Try keto.
Try something else.
And yet…
so many people still feel stuck.
Not because they don’t know what to do, but because something deeper hasn’t changed.
What if the problem isn’t that you don’t know what to do — but that you’ve been asking the wrong question?
In this episode of the Be a Blaze Podcast, Polly challenges common health paradigms and explores why habits alone don’t create lasting change—and what it actually takes to break the cycle.

You’re Not Lacking Knowledge—You’re Missing the Shift
Most people already know how to eat well.
They know movement matters.
They know what “healthy” looks like.
So why is it so hard to follow through?
Because the problem isn’t information.
It’s paradigm.
The right answer to the wrong question is still the wrong answer.
If your question is:
“How do I lose weight?”
But underneath that question is:
- frustration
- self-criticism
- pressure
- disconnection
…then no plan will stick.
Because you’re trying to change behavior without changing the place those behaviors come from.
Why You Can’t “Make Yourself” Do It
If you’ve ever thought:
“I know what to do… I just can’t make myself do it.”
You’re not alone.
But here’s the truth —
You’re not failing.
You’re operating from resistance.
When your choices come from:
- “I have to”
- “I should”
- “I need to fix this”
…your body and mind push back.
Because lasting change doesn’t come from force.
It comes from alignment.
And alignment only happens when you begin caring for your mind and heart,
not just your habits.
You’re Not Broken—You’re Conditioned
Let’s talk about cravings.
Because this isn’t just about willpower.
Many of the foods people struggle with are:
- chemically engineered
- high in sugar, salt, and additives
- designed to keep you coming back
They spike dopamine.
They train your brain to want more.
So when you say:
“I just can’t stop”
It’s not because you’re weak.
It’s because your body and brain have been conditioned.
And just like any conditioning, there’s a process of awareness, detox, and rewiring.
Not shame.
Never shame.
When Your Environment Doesn’t Support You
What if your spouse doesn’t want to change?
What if your kids expect certain foods?
What if your environment makes it harder?
This is where many people get stuck.
Not because they can’t change, but because they’re waiting for everyone else to.
Or they’re using others as a reason not to.
That’s not judgment.
That’s awareness.
Your health is your responsibility.
You can:
- invite others into the journey
- encourage with love
- create new patterns in your home
But you cannot force change.
And you don’t need permission to begin.
Why You Keep “Falling Off”
This is one of the most common patterns:
You’re doing well…
Then something happens.
A celebration.
Stress.
Bad news.
A long day.
And suddenly —it’s like everything resets.
Here’s what’s missing:
Pre-decision.
Instead of waiting for the moment, you decide before the moment.
If this happens… then I will do this.
Not from restriction, but from intention.
And when you don’t follow through perfectly?
There is no failure.
Only feedback.
Every moment is information.
Every choice is a chance to realign.
Why Weight Loss Doesn’t Last (Even When It Works)
There are tools, medications, and programs that can create real physical results.
But here’s the truth:
If the internal work doesn’t happen, the results won’t last.
Because the patterns, beliefs, and emotional drivers are still there.
Waiting.
This isn’t about judging the tool.
It’s about understanding the full picture.
If you don’t change the why, the what will always return.
The Shift That Changes Everything
At the core of all of this is one question:
Not “What do I do?”
But “Why do I do what I do?”
This is the shift.
From:
- control → understanding
- punishment → care
- force → alignment
And when that shift happens you stop trying to fix your body.
And start learning how to love it into health.
A Different Way Forward
This is what it means to think differently about your health.
Not another plan.
Not another set of rules.
But a new way of seeing:
- your habits
- your patterns
- your relationship with yourself
Because when those change, everything else begins to follow.
